Eddie

This is a caricature that bil Barrett did of me at the 2009 ISCA con, it was a black and white caricature that I scanned than printed onto a 90# rough W.C. paper and added color. (I may add background color...what color I'm not sure) I'm pretty happy with it and plan to do more W.C. caricatures :)

Split rock

This Lighthouse is just a few miles north of Duluth Min. I painted it when I was working in Philadelphia, homesick for the northern tundra.

Pastel Portraits

I've been pretty busy with my full time job learning a new 3D software and practicing
caricature techniques. Now I'm working with one of daughters (Jessica) on a caricature logo for a client. Just wanted to post something new so these are a couple of commissioned portraits I did a few years ago.

Warren

This is a caricature that I posted on the ISCA forum for the first time! It was done in marker and pen, using a black grease pencil for shading. This is a big step for me and just the beginning!

Pastel Portrait

Me with finished Pastel portrait of Erin.

Erin

This is a Pencil study for a Pastel portrait commission I did several years ago. This was an early stage of the study for Erin's picture and I will be posting the finished portrait soon. At the time of this picture, I was primarily working on pastel portraits and improving my watercolor technique. All this has led into a study of caricature drawing, which is my current "passion" but I want to be able to share past, as well as present, work. Thank you for letting me share it with you and feedback is welcome.

muscle man doodle

This was done with one of my fingers using an Iphone App called
colors lite. It was kinda hard at first but then I started to get the feel
for it...it's fun!

Bree

I've been working on learning how to add color to a caricature, this is fun no pressure (in my studio) but I know if I want to improve I'll have to get my feet wet and do it live! now that's pressure!

Tom Hill is one of my favorite watercolor artist, I like his style and technique. I'm following a demo from his book "Color for the watercolor painter" my colors or a little different but that's ok.

Two Brothers

This was a commissioned pastel portrait I did in 1988 when I lived in Baton Rouge, LA.  The challenge was composing it from two separate photographs of the brothers and it was at a time when I was doing more commissioned work.  I took this picture before the background was completed.  It was always satisfying to capture the personalities of the subjects in my portraits.

Jillian

This was my first Pastel Portrait done back in '84 of my youngest daughter Jillian. I had a book by Dennis Frost, Capturing Personality in Pastel, which was both inspirational and informative. His instructions enabled me to do the painting and I would highly recommend the book, especially to aspiring pastel portrait artists.

C.P. Portrait

My New Year goal for 2009 is to finish this colored pencil portrait. Back in 2003 I attended a colored pencil workshop in Fredericksburg Texas taught by Ann Kullburg, a self taught artist whom I had the pleasure of meeting.
